Artist Statement: I explore ways to express spirituality in the context of universal design, using a broad cultural frame of reference. The desire to nurture and express our spiritual connections is a common denominator found in a majority of past and present cultures. A sense of continuity can be created by bringing older design elements into something new.Karen double majored in jewelry design and photography at Southern Illinois University, receiving a B.A. degree with honors. After doing graduate work at the University of New Mexico, she moved to Santa Fe in 1988 and is working towards a degree in interior design.
